Robert Owen Colwell

Year Book 1974

November 21, 1956 - October 20, 2017
Robert Owen Colwell of Cotopaxi, Colorado was born in Lewisburg, PA to Helen and John Colwell. He attended Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas and later attended Colorado Mountain College.

Rob is survived by his wife, Rachel Colwell, and daughter, Angela Burke of Dallas, TX, along with his mother, Helen Colwell of Mesquite, TX, and siblings: Richard Colwell of Evanston, WY, Linda Chitsey of Garland, TX, Darcie Colwell of Worden, MT, Jacquie Silva of Berthoud, CO, and Margaret Schmitt of Kaycee, WY, and many nieces and nephews. Rob was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and aunts and uncles.

Aside from his family, Rob loved few things more than dogs and the great outdoors. He always felt as though he were "a mountain man born 150 years too late," so it was only fitting that his sudden passing occur while in his favorite place to hunt. Although he looked forward to his annual hunting trip with much anticipation, Rob also had great respect for wildlife. He authored a children's book in 2013 called Augie the Moose Has a Loose Tooth to share with others this admiration for nature. Rarely could Rob go anywhere without effortlessly making friends, whether it was at work or in the grocery store. His kind, gentle spirit will forever be missed.
