Anton Ethan "Tony" Ashbacher

Anton "Tony" Ethan Ashbacher 53, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2009 in Odessa, Texas. Tony was born on May 18, 1956 to Ralph and Eleanor Ashbacher in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, TX Class of '74. He received a football scholarship to Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. He was a long time employee of Pima Community College in Tucson. Tony enjoyed gardening, fishing, and painting. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Arizona Wildcats. Surviving family includes: mother, Eleanor K. Ashbacher, Odessa, TX; siblings, Sharon Little, Odessa, TX, Lester Ashbacher, Denise McCray, Portland, OR, Mike (Dana) Ashbacher, Burleson, TX, Todd Ashbacher, Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ashbacher, and grandparents. "God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arm around you, and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer, and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, working hands were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best." A private family service was held on Friday, August 7, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were made by Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, TX.
