Mark C. Bouzard

Mark Carlson Bouzard passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2008, at the age of 51. A loving and loved brother, son, father and friend, Mark will be deeply missed by all who knew him and appreciated his humor, intelligence and unique way of looking at the world. Mark was born on May 16th, 1956, at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, the second son of the late Col. (Ret) Walter C. Bouzard and Virginia Gault Bouzard. He grew up at military installations around the nation and world, including both coasts of the United States, Panama and Japan. Upon his father's final posting to Fort Sam Houston, Mark attended MacArthur High School in San Antonio, graduating in 1973. He attended Texas A&M and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental design in 1977, having completed his course of studies in three years. Mark worked in a variety of customer relations positions, including years spent with AAA, USAA, and most recently, with the Marriott Corporation. However, he was never defined by his work. Mark was an artist and poet, a creative soul with a brilliant mind. He displayed his art at various venues throughout San Antonio, and gifts of his artwork are among his family's most treasured possessions. Mark is survived by his son, Brendon Nicholas Bouzard of New York; his mother, Virginia Bouzard of San Antonio; brother, Walter C. Bouzard of Waverly, Iowa and his spouse, Ramona; brother, James C. Bouzard of Wimberley and his spouse, Gayle; sister, Lynn Alderman of Wimberley and her spouse, Brian; sister, Johanna Posey of Canyon Lake and her spouse, Steven. He is also survived by his good friend and ex-wife, Lynn Evans Bouzard, and her three children; Joseph A. Scooter Cooper, Chris Cooper and Elizabeth McCutcheon and their children. He also leaves behind nephews, Zane Gordon-Bouzard, Green Bouzard and Gabriel Bouzard. Mark was confirmed in the Roman Catholic tradition in recent years and held his faith with thanks and conviction. A Holy Rosary will be held Monday, April 14th, 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home Chapel, 6321 Bandera Rd. A Mass of Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 N. Grissom, with Rev. Msgr. Pat Cronin celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
