Bill was in my Typing class with Mrs. Grossman. (I remember her name because she and my mother were good friends).  Bill was such a hilarious cut up in the classroom, and the teacher would try so hard to be mad at him! But he was so funny and so good looking, she always crack up at his antics. It was very sad to loose him.

He walked this earth as he walked that stage,so long ago, with such grace with all he obviously already experienced.  We can still learn from the angle that he was and is.

I do not log in very often ... however I was touched by this posting from Ruth. Ruth ... it was nice that you thought of Bill. I think of him everday. Bill was my best friend. He stood beside me when Nancy and I were married in February 1977. He lasped out of his third remission shortly after that. Many of you may know he was a bartender at the Magic Time Machine for a long time. He made a great Gengus Khan. Bill is buried in an unmarked grave in Sunset Memorial on Austin Highway. I know the exact location where he was buried. Nancy and I have visited a few times. David Otwell has been with me once. It always makes me angry that Sunset will not let me purchase a head stone. They say I need to secure permission from his next of kin. Ruby Kapmeyer,   his mother, disappeared long ago. Twenty years ago I suggested the class of '74 spearhead an effort for a headstone. There was zero interest in the matter. I have a bunch of great pictures of Bill. Thank you Ruth .

Sad what that family must have gone through & he was so good natured always with a smile at school and had to be as a bartender. What date did he pass in 77? Can one easily find where he’s at?  I will put on my calendar to go & remember him on that day all these years later.  Maybe a blue ribbon with his name on it.  I’ve learned something I did not know about a name being absent. WOW!

Hi everyone,

I see that there's some confusion on when Bill passed. I am a genealogist and found his death cert., which states DOD 2 Apr 1978 at age 21 from Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was buried on 4 Apr 1978. He would have been 22 on 10 April. His mother died in 2005 in Arizona.

Bill now has a grave marker at Sunset Memorial, which can be viewed here (no log-in required to view).

Beth,

Many thanks for your update re Bill Wallace’s gravesite. Could not imagine Bill being buried in an unmarked grave. Was quite shocked & concerned, so your email message is/was a relief. Appreciate this information very much.

Sincerely,

Karen Herblin (Busby)
